Procumbent deciduous or semi-evergreen shrubs to c. 0.5 m high; stems much-branched, spreading horizontally, densely pubescent when young. Leaves suborbicular or broadly elliptic, rarely obovate, 4–14 mm long, 4–9 mm wide, base cuneate or obtuse, apex usually acute, upper surface dark green, glabrescent, lower surface green, sparsely hairy; petiole 2–3 mm long; stipules subulate, caducous. Inflorescence a 1–2-flowered cluster; pedicle to c. 2 mm long, strigose. Sepals 5, sparsely hairy, margins pubescent; petals 5, suborbicular, 3–4 mm long, clawed, pink, reddish or whitish. Pomes subglobose, ellipsoid or obovoid, (3–)5–7 mm diam., ± glabrous, bright red; seeds 2 or 3. Flowers spring.
