Eclipta platyglossa subsp. platyglossa
Prostrate to ascending annual or biennial, to c. 25 cm high; stems rooting at nodes, glabrous or with sparse appressed hairs. Leaves narrow-lanceolate, 1.5–7 cm long, 2–7 mm wide, surfaces appressed-hairy. Capitula campanulate, solitary in leaf-axils, 3–4 mm diam. at anthesis; peduncles to 3 cm long; involucral bracts 8–10, lanceolate, 3–5 mm long, acute, sparsely hairy. Ray florets 8–12, c. as long as involucre, ligules 1–2 mm long, yellow; disc florets 8–13, yellow. Cypselas not strongly dimorphic, compressed-cylindric, 2.5–3.5 mm long, smooth to tuberculate, dark brown; pappus a ciliolate rim c. 0.5 mm high. Flowers Sep.–Feb.
LoM, MuM, Wim, VVP, VRiv, MSB, RobP, MuF, GipP, OtP, Gold, CVU, HNF. In Victoria scattered mainly across the north (but with a few isolated occurrences between Melbourne and Geelong), usually on heavy soils, near water or in areas prone to inundation.
Subsp. borealis E.W.Cross & Orchard, described in 2013, occurs in WA, NT and Qld.
