Rhodanthe tietkensii
(F.Muell.) Paul G.WilsonErect, greyish-cottony annual to c. 50 cm high. Leaves alternate, linear, oblanceolate or lanceolate, 20–80 mm long, 2–12 mm wide, margins sometimes undulate, uppermost leaves somewhat amplexicaul. Capitula apparently heterogamous, c. cylindrical, 5–7 mm long, sessile, c. 10–30 in terminal, loose, head-like clusters; involucral bracts variously cottony, whitish or silvery, lacking a petaloid lamina. Florets 4–15 per capitulum, at least some bisexual, the rest probably functionally male. Cypselas c. 1.5 mm long, sparsely long-papillate; pappus caducous, of c. 15–20, long-plumose bristles. Flowers Sep.–Nov.
LoM, MuM, RobP. Also WA, NT, SA, Qld, NSW. Locally common, but restricted in Victoria to sandy mallee country in Natya, Annuello and Mildura areas.
