Dioicous. Plants 1–3 mm tall. Leaves weakly spreading when moist, erecto-patent and incurved when dry, lingulate with a broad sheathing base, 1–3.2 mm long, 0.3–0.7 mm wide, concave; apex cucullate, appearing obtuse, but pointed when leaf is flattened out; costa ceasing below apex or percurrent, occupying c. width of leaf base; margin entire, incurved; laminal cells in apical half quadrate or rectangular; basal cells quadrate to short-rectangular. Seta 6–12 mm long, reddish brown. Capsule erect, cylindric, dark brown, 2–3 mm long. Peristome moderately twisted. Operculum c. 1.5 mm long.
