Weak shrub, to c. 30 cm high; branchlets pubescent. Leaves spreading to reflexed, broadly ovate, 2.5–6 mm long, 1–1.8 mm wide, convex, discolorous, upper surface glabrous to slightly scabrous, lower surface 9–15-veined, papillose to shortly pubescent between nerves; base very obtuse to cordate; apex obtuse with mucro 0.5–1 mm long, straight or slightly recurved. Flowers white, solitary or paired in axils, pendent; bracteoles orbicular, c. 1 mm long, shortly mucronate, glabrous; sepals oblong, 2–3 mm long, acuminate to mucronate, glabrous; corolla 2.5–3.8 mm long, lobes nearly twice as long as tube, narrowly acute, recurved, sparsely bearded inside and out; anthers with very short and narrow sterile tips; ovary 2-locular, pubescent, style 1.5–2.5 mm long, shortly exserted from corolla. Fruit ellipsoid, 2–3 mm long, sparsely pubescent. Flowers Apr.–Sep.

Occurs in mallee scrub and heath communities, sometimes in poorly drained, slightly saline sites, from the Big Desert (e.g. Wyperfeld National Park) south to near Casterton, and as far east as the Victoria Range in the Grampians. Rather rare throughout its range.
