Plants to c. 60 cm high, 80 cm wide, somewhat woody toward base. Leaves ovate to oblong, 1–8 cm long, 2–20 mm wide, prominently sinuate-dentate, virtually absent from mature plant. Inflorescence widely spreading with rather stiff branches, comprising most of the bulk of the plant, often reddish. Flowers subsessile. Fruiting perianth hard except for spreading, hyaline wing, 3–5 mm diam. Seed blackish, minutely pitted, c. 1.5 mm diam., falling attached to fruiting perianth. Flowers Feb.–Mar.
MuM. Occurs in pasture at Walpeup, near Ouyen, where first recorded in 1955 and subsequently in 1984.
