Ozothamnus thyrsoideus
DC. Sticky EverlastingErect to spreading shrub to c. 3 m high; branchlets densely cottony at first, viscid or not. Leaves spreading, linear to narrow-oblanceolate, 8–50(–70) mm long, 1–3 mm wide, c. glabrous and resinous above, white-cottony and resinous beneath (midrib glabrescent), apex obtuse, margins revolute; petioles 0.5–3 mm long. Inflorescences hemispherical, 18–35 mm diam., secund along branches. Capitula (5–)15–40, dull-yellow, cylindric or turbinate, 3–5 mm long, 1.5–2(–3.5) mm wide; involucral bracts 18–28(–45), innermost spathulate, with lamina elliptic to obovate, 1.5–2.5 mm long, reflexed, flat, white, margin entire; receptacle bracts absent; female florets 2–5(–10); hermaphrodite florets 8–18(–25). Cypsela pyriform, c. 1.5 mm long, sparsely papillose; pappus bristles 2.5–3.5 mm long, apex narrowly clavate. Flowers Nov.–Feb.
GipP, CVU, NIS, EGL, EGU, HSF, HNF, Strz, MonT, HFE, VAlp. Also NSW, ACT, Tas. Locally common in drier montane to subalpine forests and woodlands, often prolific after fire or other disturbance.
Several populations (e.g. Mt Buffalo, Bowen Range) are atypical, with dimensions above the normal range.
