Erect shrub to 2 m high; branchlets densely cottony, not viscid. Leaves erect, sessile, c. linear, 1–4(–7) mm long, 0.5–1 mm wide, smooth to scabrous above, white-cottony beneath, apex obtuse, base decurrent into 2 prominent green, glabrous ridges, margins revolute. Inflorescences c. hemispherical, 1.5–6 cm diam. Capitula 20–90, dull-yellow, narrow-campanulate, 3.5–4 mm long, 2.5–4 mm wide; involucral bracts 24–55, innermost linear, with lamina lanceolate, 0.5–1.5 mm long, erect, plicate, hyaline, margin entire to irregular; receptacle bracts 0–2; female florets absent; hermaphrodite florets 17–48. Cypsela cylindric, c. 0.8 mm long, sparsely papillose; pappus bristles 1.5–2.5 mm long, apex clavate. Flowers Nov.–Dec.
EGU, HSF, HNF, VAlp. Also NSW. Very rare in Victoria, occurring in dry forest on limestone and sandy clay loam soils in the upper Tambo and Snowy River catchments.
