Stems 10–20 mm tall, simple or branched. Leaves spreading when moist, crisped and shiny when dry, linear lanceolate to ligulate, 2.5–3.5 mm long; apex acuminate, ending in a mucro; costa excurrent; margin entire, undulate, incurved, especially toward apex; laminal cells in apical half quadrate, isodiametric, 7–8 μm wide, papillose; basal cells rectangular, 4–8 times longer than wide, hyaline, thinly walled, sharply delimited from cells further toward apex, extending obliquely upwards from costa to margin. Seta 10–20 mm long, yellow toward capsule, reddish brown toward base. Capsules erect, narrowly cylindric, straight, 2–2.5 mm long. Operculum rostrate, 1–1.5 mm long.
