Leaves clavate, flattish on the adaxial face, 3–15 mm long, 1–2.5 mm diam., glaucous, densely papillose. Flowers 1.5–2.5 mm diam., often appearing secund; pedicels slender, 2–6 cm long; sepals oblong to obovate, 3–5 mm long, papillose, usually 3 with membranous margins, the fleshy central part of these somewhat recurved and appearing as a dorsal spur; petaloid staminodes pink or white, 8–14 mm long; styles 5 or 6, narrow-linear, subequal to stamens; glands in 5 groups immediately within the series of stamens. Capsule shallowly obconic, 2–3 mm long. Flowers Sep.–Dec.
VVP, GipP, OtP, WaP, CVU. Also WA, SA, NSW. Native to South Africa. Planted on cliffs, rocky sea-slopes and sandy foreshores at Beaumaris and the Mornington Peninsula, and occasionally escaping into adjoining bushland.
