Hypoxis hygrometrica
Labill. Golden Weather-grassVariably pubescent herbs to c. 20 cm high; corms 1–3 cm long, with a papery tunic. Roots fleshy-fibrous. Leaves linear, angular, flat or folded, hairy, 3–20 cm long, 0.5–4 mm wide. Inflorescences 1–6, 6–35 cm long, each axis with a single bracteole 1–10 mm long; flowers 1 or 2 per inflorescence, 15–30 mm wide, bright yellow; perianth lobes spreading glabrous or pubescent externally; stamens shorter than the perianth lobes, alternating long and short; ovary 3-locular, 2–3 mm long, glabrous to sparsely pubescent. Capsule ellipsoid, 2.5–7.5 mm long; seeds numerous, 1.5–2.5 mm diam.

3 varieties are currently recognized, all of which occur in Victoria. The species is in need of further detailed taxonomic study.
