(K.L.Wilson) K.L.Wilson River Hook-sedgeErect, tufted perennial with very short rhizome. Culms trigonous to triquetrous, very slender, smooth or sometimes scaberulous toward apex, 20–55 cm high, c. 0.5 mm diam. Leaves flat, exceeding culms, 1.6–2.2 mm diam. Inflorescence loose, 4–6 cm long, including male portion 8–14 mm long; female glumes deciduous, acute, straw-coloured, membranous, faintly few-nerved, (3.5–)4–5 mm long; stamens 3; utricles trigonous, narrow-ellipsoid, (4.5–)5.5–6.5 mm long, 1–1.5 mm diam., scarcely spreading, glabrous, smooth, yellow-brown; rachilla produced far beyond mouth of utricle, strongly hooked at the top. Nut trigonous, narrow-ellipsoid, yellow-brown, glistening, minutely pustulate, c. 3 mm long, 1–1.3 mm diam. Flowers summer.
EGL, EGU, HNF, OtR, Strz, MonT, HFE, VAlp. Also NSW. Localised, but locally not uncommon in cool- and warm-temperate rainforests and shaded tall open-forests of the Strzelecki and Bowen Ranges, and catchments of the major East Gippsland river systems (e.g. Mt Gibbo, Errinundra Plateau etc.).
Very similar too, and previously included in C. umbricola (as Uncinia riparia). See notes under that species.
