Hydrocotyle simulans

In describing Hydrocotyle simulans, Perkins (2020) contrasted the new taxon with H. plebeya and H. pterocarpa. However, most of the specimens determined by the author as H. simulans that are housed at MEL were segregated from H. sibthorpioides. There is no discussion in the paper regarding the differences between H. sibthorpioides and H. simulans. Pending clarification as to how the two species differ, H. simulans is not accepted as a distinct species here.
