Stolons producing globular tubers; stolons, tubers and base of stipe densely covered in brown scales. Fronds to 1 m, chartaceous, pale yellowish-green. Pinnae subsessile, oblong or lanceolate; margins crenate; apex obtuse; base cordate or hastate; sterile pinnae often longer, and margins entire, only crenulate towards apex. Sori submarginal, in regular rows; indusium opening towards apex of pinnae.
GleP, VVP, GipP, HSF, OtR. A mostly tropical species found from Japan to north-eastern Australia. Widely cultivated, it is an occasional garden escape in Victoria.
