Tufted or shortly rhizomatous perennials. Leaves mostly basal, flat or inrolled. Inflorescence a panicle. Spikelets several-flowered; glumes paired, persistent; florets articulate above glumes, more or less cylindric; lemma covered with short hairs in lower half, 7–9-nerved, shortly awned from the base of a notch (sinus) at the apex, the base of the awn not twisting, lateral lobes short, broadly acute; palea 2-nerved, equal to lemma; stamens 3; hilum about half as long as grain.
Endemic genus of 3 species, all in NSW, one shared with Victoria.
