Plants simple, bulbiform, 1–2 mm tall. Leaves ovate to broadly ovate; apex acute, reflexed; costa subpercurrent to percurrent; margin entire, plane; laminal cells in the apical half 15–37 μm long, 15–16 μm wide; basal cells rectangular, hyaline. Capsules globose, 0.4–0.6 mm wide, dark brown. Spores spherical, densely long-echinate, 28–36 μm diam.
VVP, VRiv, MuF, GipP, Gold, CVU, HSF. Recorded in Victoria from open bare soil on roadsides and under woodland in central and north-west parts of the state. Also WA and SA. Europe and northern Africa.
