Erect stoloniferous shrub to 2 m high; young branches pubescent. Leaves elliptic to suborbicular, 1–6 cm long, obtuse or acute, glabrous or sparsely pilose above, pubscent and glaucous below; petiole 2–4 mm long. Flowers sessile, in dense axillary clusters; corolla yellowish-white or pinkish, broadly campanulate, 3–4 mm long, lobes c. as long as tube; stamens included in corolla tube, anther 1 mm long; style 2 mm long, pilose. Fruit red, purplish-red or pink, glaucous, ellipsoid, 5–7 mm long; pyrenes 2.5–3.5 mm long. Flowers summer.
VRiv. Also naturalised SA. Native to U.S.A. and Mexico. Recorded from a weedy roadside near a billabong in Wangaratta, possibly establishing from dumping of garden waste.
