Autoicous. Stems to 10 mm tall. Leaves erecto-patent when moist, involute and contorted when dry, narrowly linear or linear-lanceolate, to 3 mm long, carinate, slightly concave; apices subacute, mucronate; costae shortly excurrent; margins entire, plane; laminal cells in apical half hexagonal, isodiametric, 8–10 μm wide, smaller toward margin, papillose; basal laminal cells rectangular, pellucid, extending higher at margin than at costa. Seta 12–20 mm long, reddish. Peristome teeth straight, pallid salmon pink. Capsules erect, narrowly cylindric, straight, 2–3 mm long. Operculum rostrate from conic base, to 0.7 mm long.
VVP, HSF, OtR, VAlp. Rarely encountered in rocky areas around rivers and caves in the south-west and Melbourne. Also SA and NSW and possibly WA.
