Small annual or short-lived perennial herbs. Leaves opposite; stipules connate, membranous, 2–6-toothed. Inflorescences axillary, 1–few-flowered; flowers small, pedicellate; calyx (hypanthium) cupular; sepals 4, free, persistent; petals 4, free or very shortly united, persistent; stamens 4, alternating wtih petals; style solitary, stigma 2-branched; ovary 2-locular. Fruit a 2-valved, loculicidal capsule; seeds several to many per capsule.
Two named (another possibly unnamed) species from mostly semi-arid to arid areas of mainland Australia. One species in Victoria.
