Rhizome horizontal or oblique, short, thick, covered in glossy hairs. Fronds erect, often clustered, unbranched or dichotomously branched, narrow (c. 1 mm wide), grass-like when sterile; lamina much reduced. Fertile fronds terminated by small brown comb of 7–20 pairs of pinnate segments bearing 2 rows of sporangia.
About 36 species world-wide; 5 in Australia, 3 in Victoria.
