Annual herbs, glabrous or hairy. Leaves usually pinnately lobed, sometimes simple. Inflorescence a raceme. Sepals erect, not saccate; petals clawed, sometimes absent; stamens 6. Fruit spreading, about as long as broad, dehiscent, flattened at right-angles to the septum; style short, stigma small, capitate; valves keeled, not winged; seeds in 2 rows, up to 15 per locule.
5 species in temperate to subtropical regions; 1 naturalised in Australia.
