Hypoxis exilis
R.J.F.Hend.Sparsely pubescent herbs to c. 30 cm high; corms c. 1 cm long, naked or with a papery tunic. Roots tuberous. Leaves linear, flat or folded, sparsely hairy 5–35 cm long, c. 1–2 mm wide. Inflorescences 1–3, 7–25 cm long. Flowers 1–3 per inflorescence, c. 15–30 mm wide, pale yellow; perianth lobes spreading, glabrous externally; stamens shorter than the perianth lobes, alternating long and short; ovary 3-locular, 1.5–2.5 mm long, becoming glabrous. Capsule ellipsoid, c. 5 mm long; seeds numerous, globoid, 1–1.5 mm diam., black, shiny, punctate-reticulate. Flowers reported in Oct. and Mar.
VRiv, MuF. Also NSW. Rare in Victoria where known only from very few sites on the Murray River floodplain near Barmah Forest to south of Yarrawonga (Tungamah area), and apparently confined to similar situations in NSW along the Murrumbidgee and Edwards Rivers.
