Ascending to erect, simple or branched herb, 2–12 cm high, densely white-cottony all over, rarely with some stalked glandular hairs. Leaves linear, 4.5–35 mm long. Involucral bracts 5–12, uniseriate, free, linear, 5.5–9.3 mm long, variably herbaceous, the margins narrowly to broadly hyaline, entire bract with a dense indumentum of cottony hairs. Florets 7–33; corolla pale yellow, 3- or 4-lobed; anthers c. 0.4–0.6 mm long. Cypselas gradually tapering to a subterete beak, 7–13.5 mm long in all, papillate; beak straight, not or barely dilated apically but demarcated from the corolla-tube; pappus bristles (12–)15–20(–25), subequal, plumose, c. two-thirds as long as corolla-tube Flowers Aug.–Oct.
