Wurmbea dioica subsp. dioica
Early NancyHerbs to 5–25 cm high. Leaves narrow linear, 2–20 cm long, 0.5–4 mm wide (measured at midpoint), base expanded, uppermost leaf elongate, subulate or filiform at apex. Flowers mostly 2–7, bisexual or unisexual, females sometimes larger; tepals elliptic, 4–11 mm long, shortly fused basally, spreading, white, nectary band purple; anthers red to purple. Flowers Jul.–Sept.
LoM, MuM, Wim, GleP, VVP, VRiv, MuF, GipP, OtP, WaP, Gold, CVU, GGr, DunT, NIS, EGL, EGU, WPro, HSF, HNF, Strz, MonT, HFE, VAlp. Also SA, Qld, NSW, ACT, Tas. This is the most widespread and common subspecies, found in a range of habitats throughout the state.
