Thargomindah NightshadeErect clonal shrub 0.5–1(–3) m high, silvery-green or grey-green, usually densely pubescent with stellate hairs; prickles absent, or 5–6 mm long, scattered to dense on stems, rare elsewhere. Leaves narrow lanceolate or lanceolate; lamina mostly 30–98 mm long, 5–18 mm wide, discolorous, occasionally concolorous, entire to slightly undulate; upper leaf surface stellate hairs with 12–16 lateral rays; petiole 5–15 mm long. Inflorescences short, few–12–flowered; primary peduncle 0–15 mm long. Flowers 5-merous, andromonoecious, on pedicels 5–8 mm long; calyx 3–5 mm long, lobes triangular, 1–3 mm long; corolla rotate-stellate, 30–40 mm diam., mauve or purple, lobes acute; anthers 5–6 mm long. Berry globular, yellow to brownish-black, the skin brittle and breaking irregularly, 10–15 mm diam.; seeds 3–5 mm long, dark brown to black. Flowers mostly late spring and summer.
MuM. Also WA, NT, SA, Qld, NSW. Known from a single population at Wargan near Mildura, where growing on a disturbed roadside on red sand.
