Hyalosperma demissum
(A.Gray) Paul G.WilsonDwarf glabrous to sparsely cottony herbs to c. 2 cm high, simple or much-branched. Leaves opposite to alternate, linear-triquetrous or subterete, 1-nerved, to c. 5 mm long, acuminate. Capitula sessile amongst foliage leaves; involucral bracts 3–4-seriate, ovate to broadly oblong; outer bracts 2–2.5 mm long, c. hyaline except for green midrib half to two-thirds length of bract, pale green, silvery or pale yellow-brown, inner bracts similar to outer but with a short (0.2 mm) differentiated, pale brown or off-white or yellowish apex; receptacle rounded to conical; florets 15–25, bisexual, corolla 3- or 4-lobed, anthers included. Cypselas compressed-obovoid, c. 0.7 mm long, warty; pappus bristles c. 10, plumose, united at base. Flowers Sep.–Dec

Widespread and locally common, often occurring with other short-lived annuals following spring rains, growing in an array of Eucalyptus communities on alluvium and shallow, often rocky soils, occasionally in halophytic shrublands.
