Sowerbaea
Tufted perennial herbs. Roots fibrous or tuberous. Leaves linear to filiform, margins with scarious wings at base, the wings often fused apically. Inflorescence umbellate, terminal on a simple or few-branched axis. Flowers bisexual, perianth segments in two whorls, subequal, free, concave; stamens 3, filaments filiform, anthers basifixed, staminodes sometimes present; ovary superior, 3-locular; ovules up to 4 per locule; style filiform, stigma minute, capitate. Fruit a loculicidally dehiscent 3-lobed capsule; seeds angular to ellipsoidal, dull black.
