Entosthodon productus
Mitt.Autoicous. Loose to moderately dense tufts on soil. Stems to 4 mm long, once-branched, red-brown. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, 0.7–1.7 (–2.2) mm long, 0.2–0.4 (–0.6) mm wide, concave to subtubulose adaxially, suberect when moist or dry; costa ending in acumen; margins entire, plane, without a border; apex acuminate; laminal cells in apical half oblong, 25–70 μm long, 12–15 μm wide, more hexagonal, to 105 μm long near base; alar cells not differentiated. Seta 2.5–9 mm long, reddish brown. Capsule oblong-pyriform, asymmetric, erect, 1–1.3 mm long. Operculum low conic, c. 0.35 mm diameter. Peristome absent.
Wim, GleP, VVP, GipP, WaP, Gold, CVU, GGr, DunT, HSF. Widespread on bare soil in disturbed sites (e.g. roadsides), open areas, near creeks and among sclerophyll woodland, mainly throughout the south-west quarter of the state. Also WA, SA, NSW and Tas. New Zealand.
