Millotia myosotidifolia
(Benth.) Steetz Broad-leaf MillotiaAscending to erect herb with branches to c. 30 cm long, sparsely to densely cottony. Leaves linear or spathulate, 5–60 mm long. Involucral bracts 5–20, usually uniseriate, free, narrowly elliptic or lanceolate, 4.3–7.7 mm long, mainly scarious and straw-coloured or tinged purple, but with a green midrib, cottony. Florets 15–100; corolla 4- or 5-lobed, c. cream, often reddening after anthesis; anthers c. 1–1.2 mm long. Cypselas gradually tapering to a subterete or flattened beak, c. 3–8 mm long in all, papillate; beak c. straight, not obviously dilated apically but demarcated from corolla-tube; pappus bristles 15–30, equal, subequal to corolla-tube, mainly barbellate but c. plumose at apex. Flowers Aug.–Oct.
LoM, MuM, Wim, GleP, VVP, VRiv, RobP, MuF, Gold, CVU, GGr, DunT, NIS. Also WA, SA, NSW. Widespread in western and north-western Victoria, in communities ranging from semi-arid shrubland to woodland and open-forest.
