Erect dioecious shrubs; branches slender and wiry. Leaves alternate, scale-like, caducous. Male flowers in short axillary spikes; tepals 4 (or 5); disc almost flat; stamens as many as tepals; style obsolete. Female flowers axillary, sessile; tepals 4 or 5; disc almost flat; staminodes as many as tepals, short; ovary inferior, style short, stigma bilobed. Drupe fleshy with a thin mesocarp, sessile, crowned by persistent tepals.
A monotypic genus endemic to south-eastern Australia.
