Oncosiphon suffruticosum
(L.) Källersjö Calomba DaisyErect, simple or few-branched annual, 20–60 cm high. Leaves oblanceolate in outline, mostly 2–4 cm long, 10–20 mm wide, 2- or 3-pinnatisect, ultimate lobes under 1 mm wide, surfaces grey-green, pubescent, base amplexicaul. Capitula many, 3–5 mm diam.; peduncles to c. 1 cm long; involucral bracts 2-seriate, oblong, 1–3 mm long, subequal, mostly scarious, more or less glabrous. Ray florets absent; disc florets numerous, exceeding involucre, yellow. Cypselas cuneate, 1–1.5 mm long, ribbed and papillose on inner face; pappus to c. 0.5 mm long. Flowers Oct.–Dec.
VVP, MSB. Also naturalised WA, SA. Native to South Africa. Currently known in Victoria by an old collection from Williamstown and, more recently, a stand of c. 50 plants near Lake Wallawalla in the far north-west, where growing in a roadside drain.
