Pyracantha crenatoserrata
(Hance) RehderSprawling shrub c. 1 m high; young shoots hoary. Leaves simple, obovate to broad-spathulate, mostly 2.5–5 cm long, 10–20 mm wide, base cuneate, apex obtuse or emarginate, sometimes mucronate, margins almost entire to crenulate, both surfaces glabrous; petiole 5–10 mm long; stipules minute, early caducous. Flowers in corymbs on short lateral shoots; pedicels glabrous. Sepals glabrous; stamens persistent in fruit. Pome subglobose, 6–7 mm diam., glabrous, scarlet to crimson; pyrenes 5. Flowers spring–summer.
Wim, GipP, Gold, CVU, HSF, HNF. Also naturalised NSW, ACT. Native to China. A widely cultivated plant that was first recorded as naturalised on the disused railway reserve between Yea and Cathkin, with subsequent collections made near other settlements (eg. Castlemaine, Shelley, and Heathmount).
