Erect to spreading shrub, 40–150 cm high; branchlets hispid. Leaves spreading, ± oblong, 7–17 mm long, 1.2–3 mm wide, convex, concolorous or slightly paler beneath, glabrous to pilose; margins entire or serrulate toward apex; apex abruptly acuminate, with mucro 0.5–2 mm long. Flowers white or pale pink, solitary or usually paired in axils; bracteoles 1.4–2 mm long, wider than long, obtuse, shortly mucronate, glabrous to sparsely and minutely hispid near apex; sepals ovate, 3–3.7 mm long, acute, or obtuse and shortly mucronate, glabrous or minutely scabrous or ciliate near tip; corolla 4.5–6 mm long, lobes slightly shorter than tube, acute, recurved only near tips, bearded toward apex, only margins ciliate in lower part; anthers lacking sterile tips; ovary glabrous, 5-locular, style 4–7 mm long, shortly exceeding corolla. Fruit ellipsoid, 3–4 mm long. Flowers Oct.–Dec.
VVP, GipP, Gold, CVU, NIS, EGL, EGU, HSF, HNF, MonT, VAlp. NSW, ACT. Scattered through dryish montane to subalpine areas in the east and north-east (e.g. Licola, Mt Buffalo, Omeo, Bonang, Wulgulmerang, Pine Mountain) with disjunct westerly occurrences near Daylesford and in the Brisbane Ranges.
