Roldana petasitis
(Sims) H.Rob. & Brettell RoldanaPerennial herb or shrub to 3 m high. Leaves suborbicular to broad-ovate, 10–25 cm long and wide, palmately 9–13-lobed, dark green and pubescent above, paler and woolly-tomentose below, base truncate to cordate; petiole 2–15 cm long. Capitula many, narrow-campanulate, 4–5 mm diam., in dense panicles; bracteoles 1–3, linear, 1–5 mm long; involucral bracts c. 8, lanceolate, 9–11 mm long, pubescent particularly at base. Ray florets 3–6; ligules 8–10 mm long, yellow, exceeding involucre; disc florets 10–15, deeply 5-lobed, yellow, c. as long as involucre. Cypselas 2.5–4.5 mm long, glabrous, yellowish; pappus 7–10 mm long, white. Flowers mainly spring.
GipP, HSF, Strz. Also naturalised Qld, NSW. Native to Mexico. Currently known in Victoria by roadside populations in the Strzelecki and Dandenong Ranges.
