Erect shrub, usually 0.5–1 m tall, with an overall silvery lustre, sometimes fulvus, particularly at the extremities; branches ascending, silky-pubescent. Leaves 1–3 cm long, 4–15 mm wide, silvery-silky on both surfaces, apex recurved, mucronate. Flowers solitary in leaf axils; peduncles to 5 mm long. Calyx c. 7 mm long, silky, often vaguely purplish, teeth as long as tube; standard to 1 cm long, notched, purple-blotched near centre; keel about as long as calyx. Pod 2.5–3 cm long, c. 1 cm wide, silky; seeds several, c. 5 mm long, more or less reniform, smooth, mottled brown. Flowers winter.
VVP, GipP, HSF. Possibly also naturalised SA. Native of South Africa. Apparently established in coastal scrubland near Mornington on the eastern shores of Port Phillip Bay, Raymond Island and near Portland.
