Menkea australis
Lehm. Fairy SpectaclesProstrate; stems 5–25 cm long, glabrous. Basal leaves spathulate, entire to pinnately dissected, tapering to petiole, withering without falling; stem leaves sessile or shortly petiolate, narrowly obovate, entire or shallowly lobed. Sepals c. 1–2 mm long; petals c. 1–2 mm long, white to pink or mauve. Fruit erect or spreading, obovate to elliptic, flattened, 3–7 mm long, 2–3 mm wide; style to 0.5 mm long; pedicels erect or spreading, 5–10 mm long. Flowers mostly spring.
LoM, MuM, Wim, GleP, VRiv, RobP, MuF, Gold, DunT. Also WA, SA, NSW. Short-lived plant of northwestern Victoria, growing on sandy, often disturbed soils. Reports from the Wannon region could not be verified.
