Juvenile leaves to c. 1 cm wide; adult leaves grey-green leaves. Buds slightly to distinctly glaucous; operculum sharply conical. Seedling stems glaucous.
GipP, CVU, NIS, EGL, EGU, HNF, HFE, VAlp. Also NSW, ACT, Tas. Locally common in montane to subalpine forests of north-eastern Victoria (e.g. Kiewa, Corryong areas).
Forest trees nearer to Melbourne (e.g. Marysville area), with blue-green canopies but lacking wax on floral parts may be referable to this subspecies or may represent a yet-to-be-named taxon.
