Flowering stem slender, 15–40 cm tall. Leaf-blade to 30 cm long, 3–5 mm diam. at base, green, reddish-purple at base, apex suberect, often withered at flowering. Flowers 10–20 in a narrow, loose spike, 5–7 cm long, yellow-green and red-brown, widely expanded, fragrant; ovary obovoid, c. 6 mm long, inclined at c. 30 deg. to the rachis; sepals 8–10 mm long, dorsal sepal linear-ovate, nearly vertical, acuminate, lateral sepals free from base or mostly connate, linear-lanceolate, erect or recurved, with involute margins; petals 7–10 mm long, linear to linear-lanceolate, upswept and spreading, subacute. Labellum 7–9 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, greenish, mauve or pink, basal half almost orbicular, obliquely erect, flat, distal half recurved at right angles, margins entire; callus fleshy, green, channelled, broad at base, narrowed beyond bend and extending nearly to the labellum apex. Column appendages linear-oblong, to 2.5 mm long, truncate to emarginate. Flowers Oct.–Nov.
VVP, GipP, OtP, HSF. Restricted mostly to the fertile grassy plains west of Bairnsdale where close to extinction due to loss of habitat.
