Orifice of leaf-sheath conspicuously ciliate; asymmetrical auricular lobe of upper leaves usually less than 1 mm long; leaves commonly less than 15 cm long; inflorescence typically sparse, with spikelets somewhat spreading from axis. Flowers Aug.–Dec.
LoM, MuM, Wim, GleP, VVP, VRiv, MSB, RobP, MuF, GipP, OtP, Gold, CVU, GGr, DunT, WPro, HSF, HNF, VAlp. Also SA, Qld, NSW, ACT, Tas. Abundant and locally dominant in sandy mallee areas an on shallow stony soils in north-central (e.g. Maryborough–Bendigo) and nnorth-eastern (e.g. Warby Ranges) parts of the state.
