Leucophyta
Shrubs; branches white-tomentose. Leaves alternate, sessile, entire. Inflorescence of terminal compound heads, broadly depressed ovoid or spheroidal; bracts subtending compound heads inconspicuous, leaf-like; general receptacle conical, glabrous to sparsely hairy, with glandular hairs. Involucral bracts 2-seriate, usually scarious but with an opaque brown to green midrib extending for all or most of the length. Florets (1–)2 or 3, bisexual; corolla tubular, 5-lobed; stamens 5, anthers tailed; style branches truncate. Cypselas sparsely glandular hairy; pappus of multiseriate, plumose bristles united at the base.
An endemic Australian monotypic genus.
