Spikelets 5–7 mm long; lemma to 4.5 mm long, densely hairy in lower three-quarters; awn 7.5–12.5 mm long. Flowers Oct.–Feb.
Wim, GleP, VVP, GipP, Gold, CVU, GGr, DunT. Scattered from near Melbourne to the South Australian border, mainly in grassland, occasionally woodland communities in somewhat saline depressions of the volcanic plain, but also known from seasonal, slightly brackish swampy sites east of Melbourne (e.g. Cranbourne, Safety Beach, Giffard, Sale areas).
