VVP, VRiv, GipP, CVU, NIS, EGL, EGU, HSF. Also Qld, NSW. A relatively rare grass, first collected at Providence Ponds in 1955 and mostly confined to seasonally moist sites in the lower catchment of the Gippsland Lakes (between Heyfield and Lakes Entrance). Relatively recent records of the grass from near Gellibrand Hill (c. 20 km NW of Melbourne CBD) and near Werribee may represent recent accidental introduction (e.g. with stock fodder) or a long-overlooked natural occurrence in the now-depleted grasslands and grassy woodlands of those areas.
