Lomandra longifolia subsp. longifolia
Distinguishing features as in key. Flowers mainly Sep.–Feb.
Wim, GleP, Brid, VVP, VRiv, GipP, OtP, WaP, Gold, CVU, GGr, DunT, NIS, EGL, EGU, WPro, HSF, HNF, OtR, Strz, MonT, VAlp. Also Qld, NSW, SA, Tas. Common from coastal to subalpine regions in heathlands and forests, particularly on alluvial flats or on deep sandy soils near the coast.
A few specimens appear intermediate between this and subsp. exilis where the 2 occur together. Particularly, a number of collections from the Grampians (where subsp. exilis has not been collected.) paradoxically appear intermediate between the two. A rather distinctive entity from the lower reaches of the Gellibrand River in the Otway Range has the bracts below the flower clusters weakly developed or apparently lacking. It may represent a distinct taxon.
