2 subspecies, only the typical subspecies occurs in Victoria See Olearia stricta subsp. stricta profile for description. Olearia stricta subsp. parvilobata Messina is currently only known from subalpine woodland in the ACT and NSW. It is distinguished from the typical subspecies by the persistence of juvenile leaf and hair features, with mature leaves remaining lobed and with some woolly hair on the under surface.
