Plants brownish green, with small innovations from lower stem, 4–5 mm tall. Leaves erecto-patent when moist, incurved when dry, oblong or ovate-lanceolate, upper leaves longer, to 2 mm long, concave to carinate; apex acute; costa excurrent in an arista to 400 μm long; margin revolute from base almost to apex; laminal cells in apical half rounded-quadrate, pentagonal or hexagonal, 15–40 μm long, 15–20 μm wide, densely papillose with up to 6 papillae, except on marginal cells where recurved; basal cells rectangular, 50–120 μm long, 20–30 μm wide, smooth. Seta 250 μm long. Capsule erect or inclined, globose, c. 1 mm diam., with a large broad, slightly oblique apiculus c. 200 μm long, straight.
