4 subspecies, only E. tereticornis subsp. mediana in Victoria. The typical subspecies occurs along the east coast of Australia, but apparently does not extend south of Bega in New South Wales. It is distinguished from E. tereticornis subsp. medianaby its longer operculum and green or blue-green (but not glaucous) juvenile leaves.
