Perennial with basal distichous leaves. Sepals irregular, 1 broad and 2 smaller bract-like ones. Corolla-tubular basally, 3-lobed distally. Stamens 3, joined to corolla-lobes; staminodes 3, alternating with corolla-lobes, deeply fringed distally.
About 220 species; c. 19 species occurring in Australia, 3 in Victoria.
