Hornungia procumbens
(L.) HayekPlant slender, 4–30 cm high, procumbent to erect, sparingly branched, glabrous. Basal leaves petiolate, ovate to lanceolate, 1–2 cm long, pinnately lobed or divided; upper leaves linear, entire. Flowering stem somewhat zigzagged. Sepals c. 1 mm long; petals about equal to sepals, white. Fruit obovate to obovate-oblong, 3–4 mm long, c. 2 mm wide, apex truncate or slightly notched; valves keeled, membranous; pedicels 2–10 mm long; seeds 3–10 per locule.
LoM, MuM, Wim, GleP, Brid, VVP, MSB, RobP, GipP, OtP, WaP, Gold, CVU, EGL, WPro. Also naturalised WA, SA, NSW, Tas. Weed of saline habitats in southern Victoria, from Port Phillip Bay to Portland, through to far north-west of the State.
A small, fine-stemmed plant having fruits keeled but not winged and with 3–10 seeds per locule. See also notes under Menkea.
