Annual or perennial herbs, usually hairy. Leaves pinnately lobed to entire. Inflorescence a raceme. Sepals spreading; petals clawed; stamens 4 or 6. Fruit usually spreading, less than 3 times as long as broad, dehiscent, flattened at right-angles to the septum; stigma sessile, capitate; valves keeled; seeds in 2 rows, mucous.
