Paroicous. Plants red-brown, bulbiform, c. 1 mm tall. Leaves concave; apex acute; costa excurrent as a short smoot arista; margin entire near apex, rarely weakly serrate with projecting cell ends, recurved or occasionally partly plane; laminal cells in apical half quadrate, rhomboidal, shortly rectangular or hexagonal, 15–25 μm long, 10–20 μm wide, narrower near margin, smooth or papillose away from marginal rows with 2–6 papillae; basal laminal cells rectangular, 40–70 μm long, 15–20 (–30) μm wide, smooth. Capsule erect, red-brown, globose with a tiny apiculus, to 550 μm diam., straight.
